On December 26, 2024, members of PUI-PT Combinatorics and Graph embarked on an international research visit to the Institute for Mathematical Research, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This prestigious event aimed to foster international research collaborations and strengthen institutional ties between the two entities. The delegation consisted of Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Head of PUI-PT Combinatorics and Graph), Dr. Ika Hesti Austin, S.Si., M.Si. (Secretary of PUI-PT Combinatorics and Graph), Indah Lutfiyatul Mursyidah, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Researcher), and Excelsa Suli Wildhatul Jannah, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Researcher).
During the visit, discussions centered on several key topics in graph theory, including Antimagic Labeling, Rainbow Coloring, and their applications in various fields. Specifically, the researchers explored the potential use of these labeling techniques in machine learning to predict nutrient content and optimize irrigation schedules. They also discussed applications in urban transportation, particularly in developing Transit Oriented Development models, and in the fields of cryptography and steganography to enhance data security. These discussions underscored the versatility and far-reaching impact of graph theory in addressing practical challenges across disciplines.
This visit highlighted the critical importance of building sustainable international research networks to enhance academic output and exchange innovative ideas in the field of combinatorics and graph theory. Furthermore, it reinforced the institutional capacity of PUI-PT Combinatorics and Graph to collaborate with global centers of excellence, thereby supporting its mission to advance research impact and visibility on an international scale. Such initiatives are crucial for promoting interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, encouraging joint publications, and exploring future research opportunities that address global challenges.
