In an exciting guest lecture event, the PUI-PT Combinatorics and Graphs welcomed guests from Satra Deemed University, Thanjavur, India. This visit marks a step towards establishing a visiting professorship and fostering research collaboration between Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. and Prof. Swaminathan Venkatraman. The speaker, Prof. Swaminathan, gave a lecture on "Unraveling Complex Connections: Exploring Social and Biological Networks through Hypergraph Analysis". The guest lecture was held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at the International Hall, Mathematics Building, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Jember.

Through this guest lecture, it is hoped that students will be able to unravel complex structures and interactions within networks that are difficult to explain using conventional methods. It also aims to provide new insights into the connections between individuals and entities in both social and biological contexts. Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, expressed in his address that this event could provide a valuable platform for participants to deepen their understanding of social network analysis using the hypergraph approach. Prof. Dafik also added that the concept of hypergraphs brings an interesting approach as it can be applied across various disciplines, thus providing opportunities for researchers beyond the field of mathematics to study this concept.
